Automotive Electrician sits on Tier 2, which means residence after two years of work rather than straight away, and the qualification Immigration New Zealand lists against it is a Level 4 certificate, not a degree. A Level 7 degree in this field is a different qualification, so do not assume it maps to this role.

Questions about the Bachelor of Automotive Engineering
Does electric vehicle work change the picture?
Not for the Green List, which names occupations rather than technologies. Automotive Electrician stays a Tier 2 trade occupation whether the vehicles are petrol or electric. The electric vehicle content in the degree matters for employability, not for immigration.
Why is a Level 4 certificate listed instead of the degree?
Because the Green List names occupations and the qualifications that evidence them, and Automotive Electrician is a trade occupation evidenced by a trade certificate. A degree in the field is a higher qualification but a different one. Do not assume the higher level substitutes; ask a licensed immigration adviser.
What is this degree good for then?
It is a Level 7 degree, so it carries a post-study work visa of up to three years and 5 points under the Skilled Migrant Category, the same as any other bachelor's degree. That route is open on the usual terms. It is the Green List shortcut that does not apply cleanly here.
