What you study
A Bachelor of Applied Technology in Transport Management covers logistics, supply chain planning, fleet and freight operations, transport law and compliance, and the economics of moving goods. New Zealand is a long, thin country dependent on coastal shipping, road freight and a small rail network, so the domestic content is specific rather than generic. Programmes usually include an industry placement with a freight, port or logistics operator.

Does the Bachelor of Transport Management lead to residence in New Zealand?
Working here after you graduate
This is a degree at Level 7, so graduates can apply for a post-study work visa of up to three years and work in any job, anywhere in New Zealand. Immigration New Zealand only restricts what you may work in for non-degree qualifications at Level 7 and below, which does not apply here.
Points towards residence
The Skilled Migrant Category is a threshold of six points, not a score to maximise: once you reach six, more points earn nothing. A New Zealand bachelor's degree is worth 5 points, so one year of skilled work in New Zealand takes you to the 6 needed.
A qualification earned in New Zealand is worth more than the same level earned overseas, which is one of the few concrete advantages of studying here rather than at home.
The Green List
Transport management roles do not appear on the Green List. There is a separate residence pathway for parts of the transport sector with its own rules, which is worth asking a licensed adviser about rather than assuming either way.

Graduates go into logistics coordination, fleet management, freight forwarding, port operations and supply chain roles. Transport management occupations do not appear on the Green List. Questions about the Bachelor of Transport Management
Is supply chain the same as transport management?
Supply chain is wider: sourcing, inventory, demand planning and distribution. Transport management is the movement itself, plus the fleet and compliance side of it. New Zealand programmes usually teach both, because the domestic market is too small for the roles to separate cleanly.
What is the separate transport sector pathway?
Immigration New Zealand has operated sector-specific residence arrangements covering parts of transport, with their own occupation lists and conditions that change independently of the Green List. Can I work anywhere in New Zealand after this degree?
Yes. It is a Level 7 degree, so the post-study work visa of up to three years carries no restriction on job or region. Immigration New Zealand only restricts the field of work for non-degree qualifications at Level 7 and below.
